Raft Guide Training Professional (For Employment)

This course is intended to train those pursuing a professional guide certification for commercial use.

Would you like to be able to confidently and safely guide a raft filled with excited paddlers through thrilling rapids on any river trip in the world? Does a summer job or life-long career in the whitewater paddling industry interest you? If so, Dvorak Expeditions (DVK) has an internationally recognized 14- day raft guide training program to help you learn the technical skills, strokes and maneuvers needed to become a proficient whitewater rafting guide. If you are already a committed paddler, our training program offers a unique and exhilarating way to learn new skills and experience the water from an entirely different perspective. If you have an interest in boating, but lack prior knowledge or background in whitewater, then this program will provide the tools and training you need to become a competent, qualified, and versatile raft guide on rivers anywhere. As long as you have enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit, DVK 42 years of raft guide training is the place for you.

Dvorak Expeditions has been offering guide and private boater river training since 1969 as Colorado 1st licensed outfitter. If you would like to set yourself a step, page, or bend in the river ahead of all the rest, then DVK river training is what you need. Learn from experienced multifaceted guides and instructors (including Bill Dvorak, consummate Rescue 3 instructor). DVK includes a top-level intro to Swift Water Rescue Courses as an option to every trainee. We also teach valuable camping skills and outdoor cooking on our guide-training course. Come learn how the pros do it, from a company that helped shape the wilderness survival guidelines and techniques for both NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) and Outward Bound programs when they were in their infancy.

The basic instructional areas within our guide training and instruction include:

• Equipment selection Rafting Guide Training
• Paddle boat and oar boat (rigging, control, recovery)
• Maintenance and repair of equipment
• Reading river flows, lines
• Scouting and running rapids
• Rescue and evacuation techniques
• Minimum impact camping
  —- Beginner/Intermediate (River Class II-IV+)
  —- Intermediate/Advanced Class Levels: (River Class III-V)

Dvorak’s can make available for a few selected applicants a tuition assistance option for our May guide training. If you are seeking a job with DVK and wish to apply for assistance (50%) off total training fee, please contact us for application and commitment for reimbursement. If you complete DVK’s guide training course, and are paid for 45 river days (@ one – two seasons), the employee is eligible for the 50% of training cost to be reimbursed. We do expect 2 seasons from anyone accepted for this program.
