Middle School Raft Trip

A comment from a recent middle school annual rafting trip Could you send an invoice for $100.00 for gratuity for our group on 5/23/08? Thanks for everything, you guys went far beyond your requirements for us that cold and miserable Friday. Our guides never uttered a word of their own discomfort and gave of their own supplies to keep the children as comfortable as possible. I can’t thank you enough – on behalf of all of us. I’m thinking the first weekend in September might be a better option for our annual rafting adventure – what do you think? Diana Biggs 5/17/08

Customer Looks Forward to Gore Canyon

Dear Jennifer, “Office Chix” I cannot believe this.  This is outrageous.  My whole trip has now been ruined; I was counting on those pictures to prove to everyone the other guys paddling in my boat were a bunch of pansies hiding in the center every time we hit a wave or even a ripple.  In addition due to excessive partying in my younger years I have short term memory loss and will probably forget about the trip in a couple of hours, I needed those pictures.  I guess what we can do is this,  I will send you a picture of me and you can cut the head off and paste it on someone is hammering through a big rapid. Even better, if you could paste it on one of the more ripped guides bodies in a boat full of…

Praise for the Green River trip from a client We just wanted to Thank all of you for making our trip down the Green River a memorable experience. Kevin, Ben, Lizzie, Amy, Justin, Russ and Dave were so much fun, and they worked so well with all the kids.  They worked so perfectly as a team and were true professionals. Being on the river with Jeff and Marlayna and their whole family was also a lot of fun. The meals were excellent and we have told all our friends about our adventures. Except for the constant remarks from Ellen (the complainer) we had a great time and enjoyed everyone’s company.  Ben went out of his way to try and make her happy, but she was just one of those type’s to complain about everything. We hope as our kids get…

Another satisfied customer report

August 26, 2008 Dear Dvoraks, Last month while I was in Colorado I took a half day trip on the Arkansas River, which was a high point of my visit to the state. The directions you e-mailed were precise, making the destination easy to find from Denver. A pristine river, majestic rock formations, abundant plant life, and a variety of bird species; all are fond memories I now have of the rafting journey. Additionally, I wanted to recognize the expertise of the guide – Liam who was both personable and knowledgeable making the trip notable. He was quite informative on a variety of subjects including the speed of the river, the habitat, history and geology of the area. He really was delightful, intelligent, and negotiated the river with expertise. Thank you for providing a nicely organized trip, and a fabulous…

Enclosing DVD

January 13, 2009 This is a letter from a client Dear Mr. & Mrs. Dvorak, I am enclosing two DVD’s that I recently finished making of a trip that I took with my brother-in-law Bob Spencer,   The trip was your Gunnison Gorge fishing trip on June 23-25.   We were passengers in a raft piloted by your son Matt. We had a GREAT time!  The guides, and especially Matt, were very professional as well as personable.  The food was excellent, fishing was good, and the rafting experience was an adventure (my first time in a raft).  When I save up some extra money, I’ll come to Colorado for another fishing trip with your company. I’m a beginner when it comes to making video DVDs, so everything is not perfect.  It took a while to figure out how to combine videos from…

Parade Magazine, Take an Active Family Vacation 1995

Live Longer, Better, Wiser That special time together should recharge body as well as spirit—and bring you closer. So… TAKE AN ACTIVE FAMILY VACATION By Bonnie Tandy Leblang March 12, 1995, Parade Magazine GET THE WHOLE FAMILY together and go do something fun and challenging. You’ll be surprised at what happens. When I go by vacation with my sons, Bryan and Eric, whether for a week or a weekend, we look for action. We’ll hike to the top of a hill to watch the sunrise, or bike along the coast to spend time at the beach, or ski. “It’s more fun to do something, like ski, than to spend two hours waiting in line to go on a two-minute river-rafting ride at some theme park,” says Bryan, who’s 14. Such holidays, which needn’t be expensive, are healthful for both body…

Chicago Tribune 2002

Classical rafting An adventure in music, with a river on the side Story and photos by Alan Solomon Tribune staff reporter Published August 25, 2002 GREEN RIVER, Utah – Imagine, if you can and if you will, the audience at a symphony concert. Picture their age, what they’re wearing, how they’re groomed. Now, imagine them sweaty. Imagine them with squirt guns. Imagine them on the sandy bank of a river between canyon walls in the early evening, listening to great music played by musicians wearing T-shirts, shorts and sandals. This was the Classical Music White-Water Raft Trip. The brochure sent out by Bill Dvorak’s Rafting & Kayaking Expeditions calls this offering “The Classical Music River Journey.” Say that out loud: Flows like Debussy, doesn’t it? But here’s what we’re really talking about: Seven nights of wilderness camping in Utah’s beautiful Desolation…

Tour du Jour 1993

Sampling the Tour du Jour: Isn’t that Special By Mary Forgione, Daily News Staff Writer Sunday, May 30, 1993 Travel Section, Daily News (edited version). Members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform concerts in the wild on a Colorado river rafting trip. To tour or not to tour, that is the question. Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer The Slings and arrows of outrageous traveling companions Or to take arms against a sea of troubles. And by opposing – stay home. If you like the notion of traveling with a tour group but are wary (or weary) of sharing your hard-earned vacation with 30 strangers whose interests are limited to grabbing gift-shop glitz, take heart. Special interests may be a dirty word on Capitol Hill but tour operators find that trip, cruises and workshops pegged to a particular…
