Dvorak’s Long Weekend Adventure Guide to Colorado

Just recently, National Geographic did a “Long Weekend Adventure Guide” to several great places in the United States. There were a few nods to Colorado, so we thought, “hmmm, two can play that game”. So here is Dvorak’s personal “Long Weekend Adventure Guide”, inspired by National Geographic.

Where: Arkansas Valley, Salida, Colorado

Meet the expert: Dvorak Expeditions, located in a breath-taking valley, surrounded by beautiful Rocky Mountain Fourteeners.

fishing Arkansas RiverRafting: If you haven’t rafted down the Arkansas River through Browns Canyon, our newest National Monument, now is the time to do it. Not only is it an exhilarating experience for first timers, but we can also arrange for a trip down a different section of the Arkansas River, like “Royal Gorge” which offers high intensity class IV and V’s. Let Dvorak show you why this is the most popular whitewater river in the USA if not the world!

Fly Fishing Gunnison River

The Gunnison River Fly Fishing Trip is one of a kind and one of DVK’s defining trips.

Fishing: Did you know that the Arkansas River has “Gold Medal” fishing? Do we need to say more? We can upgrade any of our packages to include fishing. Gunnison River Fly Fishing is like a mini-grand canyon, a dream fishing trip in Colorado. It is a remote fly fishing area with deep, steep canyon walls and DVK is one of only two outfitters allowed to fish there. According to Bill Dvorak, this is our company’s most defining trip

“People wouldn’t expect me to pick that trip, it’s not even whitewater, it’s a float trip,” says Bill Dvorak. “All I can offer by way of explanation is that I’m on the Yvon Chouinard progression. I went from rock climber to mountaineer, to kayaker, and now I’m transitioning to fishing guide.” – from Men’s Journal article The 9 Best Outdoor Guides in America (And Their Most Epic Adventures)
