Rafting Browns Canyon National Monument with Bill Dvorak
Is President Obama going to be sharing a raft with Bill Dvorak down the Arkansas River through Browns Canyon National Monument? Maybe!
After celebrating Browns Canyon National Monument status with President Obama in the Oval Office, Bill Dvorak also extended an invitation to the President to join Bill on the Arkansas River. So now we’ll just have to see if the President finds the time once he has left office. If he does come, the President will get to see firsthand why Bill Dvorak and the Friends of Browns Canyon spent 23 years fighting for national monument status, and why it is one of the most sought after white water destinations in the country.
Bill Dvorak’s road from the white water to the White House
Dvorak is no stranger to outdoor adventure and thrill seeking white water rafting. From mountain climbing to scuba diving, Dvorak has seen and done it all from Colorado to Australia, but no mountain or rapid has tested his patience and commitment like the fight to secure national monument status for Browns Canyon. In February 2015, after 23 years and several pieces of failed legislation later, Bill Dvorak and the Friends of Browns Canyon advocacy group could finally celebrate. And celebrate they did, all the way to the Oval Office where they watched as the President signed the official proclamation. February 19th, 2015 will be a day that we all remember.
