KAYAK OR RAFT INSTRUCTIONAL TRIP ON THE COLORADO RIVER
The legendary Colorado River, over 1400 miles long, starts just above Little Gore Canyon. This is one of the first boat-able sections of the river. Alpine scenery, historic points, hot springs and milder whitewater make this a great family trip and all within an easy drive from Denver.
This is an ideal river experience for beginner to intermediate instructional courses. Children 5 and up will enjoy this classic river expedition.
Please specify in notes either kayak or raft or inflatable kayak instructional.
Instructor will pick the appropriate sections or training for beginners.

When you get to the river we will fit you out with your personal flotation device (PFD) and gather everyone to the circle for introductions and a river safety talk.

The meals are planned with lots of fresh and hearty vegetables and salads. Gourmet selections for the delight of our guests throughout the journey. Your guides will be in charge of all preparations and they will amaze you with what comes out of those dutch ovens!
We can accommodate special diets with advance notice and the menu almost always suits the vegetarian.
Dvorak’s will provide complimentary wine for dinners. You’re welcome to bring alcohol on multi-day expeditions, as long as it’s in unbreakable containers. Discretion in alcohol consumption during whitewater days is strongly advised. If you would like us to pick up a particular beer and bring it to the river, please advise and payment can be made for your purchase at the river put-in with your Trip Leader.
Gratuities are not included in your trip cost. While tipping is done at your discretion, tipping is one of the gauges we use in terms of customer satisfaction. If you are ever not satisfied, please let us know so that we can adjust our expeditions in the future.

Major airports are Denver International or Colorado Springs; rent a car or van from there to the Arkansas Valley. Car rentals are available in Denver or Colorado Springs.
Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado have small aircraft facilities and charter flights only are available with adequate numbers for charter.
You can choose to meet us at our Nathrop base or at the state park where we launch.
To reach our Browns Canyon/Nathrop Base, you will need to follow Hwy 285 out of Denver all the way to the Base located at l7921 US Hwy 285. It is approximately 160 miles from Denver International Airport to the Nathrop Base (3 hours). The mountain road driving is through one of the most beautiful parts of the Rocky Mountains and you should allow extra driving time to sight-see.
To reach our meeting location for the Bighorn Sheep Canyon and Royal Gorge, take Hwy 50 west through Canon City. Your guides will meet you at the State Recreation Site “Parkdale.” A $6 parking fee will apply to your vehicle. Pay on arrival and place the sticker in your vehicle. The Dvorak Van and guides will meet you in the parking area. Arrive by 8:30 a.m. for morning trips and 12:30 for afternoon trips.
