My Story

Where did you grow up?   Sheridan, Wyoming on a ranch

Where do you call home now?    Nathrop, Colorado for the last 37 years

Year started at DVORAK’S    My wife ‘Jaci’ and I returned from southern hemisphere in 1979 and began operating and bought the company to begin our journey as outfitters.  We remain owners and operators actively today.

What is the best part of your job?  Living a life that I would gladly pay someone to let me do!  Meeting and working with like minded people who want to protect public lands and waterways for generations to come.

Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special.  Just give me a river anywhere in the world and by being on it has to be the experience I couldn’t match for pleasure and friendship and wow, sleeping under the stars, waking to the morning chorus of birds is my kind of alarm clock.

Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?   My silver wedding bracelet of 47 years and always brushing my teeth as I pull away from the shore on another day on the river.

What can you not live without on a trip?  My big gulp coffee mug and river hat!

River fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory.   I’m a great story teller and feel like it’s river water running through my veins.
