Classical Music and River Rafting Go Hand in Hand
Imagine Star Wars without the soundtrack, or Jurassic Park, or Jaws, or Inception, or The Wizard of Oz, just to name a few. They wouldn’t be the movies they are today. Music plays a huge part in how we perceive certain situations. We use music to get us mentally prepared for one thing or another from job interviews to running a marathon. It is only natural that an eight-day trip down the Dolores or the Green River would be perfectly paired with the sounds of classical music.
River rafting and kayaking to classical music on the Dolores River in Colorado
For nearly 30 years we’ve been guiding people of all ages down the Dolores River in Colorado, as well as the Green River in Utah while the sounds of classical music fill the space around us. The canyon walls, the ripples of the whitewater, and ancient ruins all resonating with the sounds of classical music provided by our very own professional musicians.
Classical music can do more than just add to the awesomeness of the river landscape; it can help improve your performance, decrease stress, and help you sleep better.
Listening to happy, uplifting classical concerto’s will stimulate the brain in a positive manner, helping it make better decisions and staying focused. Something you will need when taking on the rapids of the Dolores and the Green Rivers.

Getting a good night’s sleep is important when you have eight days of rapids and rafting ahead of you, you need to let your muscles relax and recuperate. Nothing helps your body heal better than a good night sleep, and classical music will help relax your body, and help you get to that much-needed REM cycle.
Of course, we’ll also be providing you with gourmet meals every time we hit camp. You’ll be tempted to stuff yourself full of delicious local delicacies, but classical music will automatically let you slow down your tempo and eat your food one bite at a time, ensuring that you don’t overeat. So, in a sense, you can say that classical music can help you eat in moderations, avoiding weight gain.
But, despite all the psychological things that classical music can do to help you be a healthier and happier person, there’s quite simply nothing like hearing the notes bounce and reflect off of nature’s natural amphitheater.
