North Platte River White Water Rafting & Fishing

25-35 miles | Class II-IV | 2-3 days

The North Platte River is a mountain river, running clear and cold over 618 miles from its headwaters in Colorado towards Bennett Peak and Treasure Island in Wyoming. The North Platte begins its descent through the 6 miles of narrow Northgate Canyon at over 8,000 feet in elevation dropping 470 feet over the next 18 miles. Paddling through intense Class III-IV rapids including Stovepipe, the Wall in the Narrows and Windy Hole, you discover true river magic as you sail through the classic “Old West” scenery of snow-capped mountain ranges and western cattle ranches.

The North Platte River is the ideal location for rafting & fishing adventures for everyone. Because of the North Platte River’s “Designated Wilderness” classification, this river corridor offers great wildlife (cougars, bald and golden eagles, elk) and natural solitude while also providing great floating, play boating, and fishing opportunities for paddlers of all persuasions. “Home of the Lunker Trout”, the fishing for browns and rainbows on the North Platte River is excellent with prime season being mid-June. A Wyoming fishing license is a necessity.
