NEPAL WHITE WATER RAFTING –
KARNALI RIVER
18 days | Class IV
In the tiny kingdom of
Nepal,
the same beautiful mountain ranges which draw climbers
from around the world, are the source of an incredible
variety of white
water
rafting
challenges for paddlers. Situated
between India and China,
Nepal
is only 100 miles wide, but rises from sea level on the
Gangetic Plain to over 29,000 feet at the top of Mt.
Everest. High-country Nepalese rivers are some of the
mightiest among white water flows all over the world.
The diverse geography of this small country encompasses
many ecological extremes - from high altitude peaks -
to steamy lowland jungles.
Karnali River,
“The Western Bend”, is a gem, with some of the
prettiest canyons and jungle scenery available in
Nepal
and is the largest and longest
river in the country. In high water, the
Karnali River
is a serious commitment for
white water
rafters, combining huge hydrolic flows and more
manageable Class IV rapids in a remote location. This
unique trip includes time in Kathmandu, travel by
rickshaw and bus to Surkhet, a two-day trek through
forests and bamboo groves with some lung busting climbs
to the Karnali River,
seven days on the river and a variety of side activities
including elephant safaris, canoeing with the Gangetic
Dolphins, jungle walks and bird watching.
